Council Meeting April 7, 2020 via Zoom

The regular meeting of Council, scheduled for April 7, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., will take place in a virtual setting via Zoom. Outbreak declared in Van Horne and Willowdale Retirement Residences in Smiths Falls The Health Unit is working with both Van Horne and Willowdale Retirement Residences in Smiths Falls to manage a COVID-19 outbreak. One staff member has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Infection control measures under the Long Term Care Home Act have been put in place to manage the outbreak and are being monitored by the Health Unit. I have been asked many times in the past couple of weeks “who is the government going to help? when is that help available? and how does one apply.?” The Government of Canada has posted this page. It details the support available to individuals, businesses and industry and is well laid out. If you need some additional help, you should find a “Virtual Assistant” box on the right side of the page. If not, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will locate it there. Outbreak found in Lanark Lifestyles in Perth, Ontario The Health Unit is working with Lanark Lifestyles in Perth to manage a COVID-19 outbreak. New Provincial Emergency Declaration Includes Lockwood Park

The Province of Ontario renewed its Emergency Declaration, effective today. Parks are included in this order as well as reducing the number of people who can gather to 5 people, not from the same family. For the Village, this includes Lockwood Park and the Spring. Walk through areas in Lockwood Park and the Harbour are not affected, however the baseball diamond, basketball court, swings and playground and stage are closed. Signs are being posted.
