Should Westport Permit Cannabis Retail Stores?

December 19, 2018

The Village of Westport needs to make a decision no later than January 22, 2019 on whether to opt out of allowing retail cannabis stores within the Village boundary.  Municipalities that have not opted-out by January 22, 2019, by default, have opted-in.

Council was presented with a Briefing Note (see below) on this subject at the Committee of the Whole Meeting on December 18, 2018.  The Briefing Note is informative and provides answers to many questions that are being asked, such as standards, requirements, licencing, etc.

The Village is asking for the input of both its Residents and Business Owners.  Details of the input being asked for, and how to provide same, are addressed in correspondence from CAO Paul Snider dated December 19, 2019, which can be read on the link below.

Time is of the essence, so if this topic is important to you, review the below links and let your informed voice be heard.  The deadline for council to receive your input is January 5, 2019.
